CCENT/CCNA ICND2 exam 640-816 (3rd Edition) Posted: 04 Oct 2008 12:23 AM CDT
TITLE : Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices, Part 2 (ICND2): (CCNA Exam 640-802 and ICND exam 640-816) (3rd Edition) (Self-Study Guide) (Hardcover) [ R e l e a s e N o t e s ] Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices, Part 2 (ICND2), is a Cisco-authorized, self-paced learning tool for CCNA foundation learning. This book provides you with the knowledge needed to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size branch office enterprise network, including configuring several switches and routers, connecting to a WAN, and implementing network security. In Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices, Part 2 (ICND2), you will study actual router and switch output to aid your understanding of how to configure these devices. Many notes, tips, and cautions are also spread throughout the book. Specific topics include constructing medium-size routed and switched networks, OSPF and EIGRP implementation, access control lists (ACL), address space management, and LAN extensions into a WAN. Chapter-ending review questions illustrate and help solidify the concepts presented in the book. Whether you are preparing for CCNA certification or simply want to gain a better understanding of how to build medium-size Cisco networks, you will benefit from the foundation information presented in this book. Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices, Part 2 (ICND2), is part of a recommended learning path from Cisco that includes simulation and hands-on training from authorized Cisco Learning Partners and self-study products from Cisco Press. To find out more about instructor-led training, e-learning, and hands-on instruction offered by authorized Cisco Learning Partners worldwide, please visit www.cisco.com/go/authorizedtraining. Carbon Nanotubes: Quantum Cylinders of Graphene, Volume 3 Posted: 04 Oct 2008 12:02 AM CDT
Carbon Nanotubes: Quantum Cylinders of Graphene, Volume 3 Product Description Nanotubes with sp2-bonded atoms such as carbon, or boron together with nitrogen, are the champions of extreme mechanical strength, electrical response (either highly conducting or highly insulating), and thermal conductance. Carbon nanotubes can be easily produced by a variety of synthesis techniques, and for this reason they are the most studied nanotubes, both experimentally and theoretically. Boron nitride nanotubes are much more difficult to produce and only limited experimental characterization data exist. Indeed, for boron nitride nanotubes, theory is well ahead of experiment. For these reasons this volume deals largely with carbon nanotubes. Conceptually, the “building block” for a carbon nanotube is a single sheet of graphite, called graphene. Recently, it has become possible to experimentally isolate such single sheets (either on a substrate or suspended). This capability has in turn fueled many new theoretical and experimental studies of graphene itself. It is therefore fitting that this volume contains also a chapter devoted to graphene. - Comprehension |

Packet Tracer 5.0 (PT5.0) is comprehensive networking technology teaching and learning software with powerful simulation, visualization, authoring, assessment, and collaboration capabilities. Packet Tracer makes both teaching and learning easier - instructors and students can create their own virtual “network worlds” for exploration, experimentation, and explanation of networking concepts and technologies. Instructors can demonstrate technologies and configurations using Packet Tracer to teach complex CCNA-level networking concepts, making it extremely useful for lectures, group and individual labs, assessments, troubleshooting and modeling tasks, homework, games, and competitions. It supplements classroom equipment and provides students complementary learning opportunities that are not possible in the classroom alone. In addition, Packet Tracer activities are embedded in the new CCNA Discovery and CCNA Exploration curricula to provide rich networking technology learning experiences. PT5.0 offers a unique combination of realistic simulation and visualization experiences, complex assessment and activity authoring capabilities, and opportunities for multiuser collaboration and competition. |

Physical Acoustics in the Solid State Posted: 03 Oct 2008 06:44 PM CDT
Physical Acoustics in the Solid State Product Description Suitable for researchers and graduate students in physics and material science, “Physical Acoustics in the Solid State” reviews the modern aspects in the field, including many experimental results, especially those involving ultrasonics. Practically all fields of solid-state physics are covered: metals, semiconductors, magnetism, superconductivity, different kinds of phase transitions, low-dimensional systems, and the quantum Hall effect. After a review of the relevant experimental techniques and an introduction to the theory of elasticity, emphasizing the symmetry aspects, applications in the various fields of condensed matter physics are presented. Also treated are Brillouin-scattering results and results from thermodynamic investigations, such as thermal expansion and specific heat.

Evaluating Children’s Interactive Products: Principles and Practices for Interaction Designers Posted: 03 Oct 2008 06:33 PM CDT
Evaluating Children’s Interactive Products: Principles and Practices for Interaction Designers Evaluating Children’s Interactive Products fills a void in the literature by providing practical advice based on the authors’ experience, a thorough survey of evaluation methods, as well as valuable real world examples. It brings together valuable information and experiences that would have previously required reading dozens of papers and several books. The authors have been heavily involved in the interaction design and children research community and it shows in the breadth and depth of topics covered, and in the content being up-to-date. This is a useful book for people in industry and for researchers in academia who are interested in conducting evaluations of technologies for children. The writing style is easy to follow and appropriate for native speakers of English as well as for those who are fluent in English but for whom English is a second language. - Juan Pablo Hourcade, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Iowa
